Why I’m supporting #MicroBizMatters Day
Over the last decade or so the world of business and employment has significantly changed. The UK has shifted from a position of employment certainty to one of short term and zero hours contracts becoming the norm for many. Never before has the working population felt less in control of their own career and job destiny; that is unless they run their own business.
The last few years has also brought about a significant and dramatic increase in the number of micro businesses being formed. People are taking back control and investing in themselves. As Tony says “There is no business like your own business” – very true words.
That said, Micro Businesses do not have big budgets available to buy support, advice and guidance as and when they need it; they need all the help that they can get especially with the ever increasing amount of Red Tape that the Government imposes on businesses regardless of their size. Micro businesses are hit the hardest by increasing regulatory control such as Auto Enrolment, VAT MOSS, Real Time Information for employers and the promise of quarterly tax return filing in the future.
#MicroBizMatters Day is an event which recognises and celebrates all of the Micro Businesses in the UK and, more importantly, their owners; those who’ve had the courage to take control of their work & career. I jumped at the opportunity to be involved in this great event and hope that my involvement can help to support hard working Micro Business Owners as they strive for success.
I truly believe that Micro Businesses do Matter – today and every day.
