For our members, not for profit
The Forum is a leading small business support group dedicated to helping business owner’s focus on growth and profitability.
The Forum was founded by Stan Mendham OBE in 1977. Stan, a chartered engineer, was frustrated with the way big businesses dominated the commercial world in the UK, increasingly concerned by the lack of understanding of smaller businesses in the economy and dismayed by mounting red tape.
Over the years, as the business landscape has changed, so too have the needs of our members. In order to stay relevant we have evolved our support and services to meet those member needs. However we remain dedicated to representing our members and helping them focus on compliance, profitability and growth.
Why We’re Supporting #MicroBizMattersDay
The Forum of Private Business does not operate for profit, but everything we do is about making sure businesses do. We actively support businesses to help them grow and thrive.
We have a clearly defined strategy to engage with businesses and to be the voice that a small and micro businesses need as a leading authority on business issues and representing the interests of business owners on numerous consultative bodies. We have been influential in many areas of policy-making, in changing laws that affect businesses, and continue to campaign for the fair treatment of private businesses by decision-makers in the UK.
#MicroBizMattersDay for us means that we can support what we believe in for small business and micro business owners alike. Giving support for the huge contribution that small businesses alike, make in today’s economy not only within the UK but across the globe. Starting your own business is without doubt an attractive option, but it also hard in the beginning. The latest government research suggests that the main motivations for pursuing the entrepreneurial good life are the need for extra income (42%), having greater independence (29%) and being your own boss (25%).
For many small businesses YOU are the brand. Storytelling is important for customers to buy into you and why you’re running your business is the biggest part of this. So if we can help in any way to help the business thrive and flourish we will.
#MicroBizMattersDay is a great and ingenious way to have our say for 8 minutes on the 8 January 2016. Make sure you look out for our members survey that show the ‘cost of compliance’ because you had a passion to become a business owner.
