Actions speak louder than words, so they say, that is why #MicroBizMattersDay is a great day for you to buy from, promote, support or just discover micro businesses whether offline or online. Do something that will make a difference to a micro business owner wherever they are in the world, however small that action is.

Tina & Tony have a few suggestions for you, feel free to share yours with them:

#Customers

  • Get 3 to 13 other micro biz owners together and set up a 13 x digital marketing session.
  • Promote  online or offline networks, membership bodies, or selling platforms, to other biz owners, that have helped you to get new customers. For example, in England, you might say ‘Join me in the FSBNorthYorkshire group #MicroBizMattersDay’ ‘I’ve found Etsy the best for getting new customers for my artworks #MicroBizMattersDay’
  • Use social media to promote the name of a micro biz(s) that you’ve loved their product or service. e.g. if it was Twitter: Loved the chocolates & fast delivery from @OWoWChocolates #MicroBizMattersDay.
  • Complete our #MicroBizMattersDay Big Survey to find out what helps most with gaining #customers and improving #cashflow – the survey is at http://goo.gl/7DwFkR.
  • Persuade others to pledge to buy at least 25% of their goods and services from independently owned and run businesses (not chains and corporates) #Indie25ER.
  • Buy something, online or offline, from an independently owned and run business that you wouldn’t have normally done that day. e.g. a coffee, a beer, a cake, an album, a book, a beauty treatment, stationery, a treat…
  • Support a band/professional musician by downloading a track e.g. 3 that we’re supporting in England that have helped the Rockers are: Chantel McGregor, Bryn Haswell and Hats Off To Led Zeppelin and in Ireland Rambling Ringo, the Lisburn busker.
  • Sign a petition to save independent business owners from unfair big business competition. e.g. in England a petition to change the laws for pubs to buy beer from other than PubCos.
  • Promote the Enterprise Rockers free 40 minutes movie on You Tube: ‘What Makes Enterprise Rock?’. It was made by award winning film maker Asta Philpot and 20 business owners gave time and Tony and Tina gave money to make it. It contains lots of survive and thrive tips for business owners everywhere.
  • Promote the Enterprise Rockers 4 Global Campaigns video to help micro business owners  throughout the world (it’s on the home page of this site).
  • List in 13 minutes all the Big Companies that you think are ripping us off and pledge to yourself not to buy again from any of them. List in 13 minutes all the Big Companies that are fair and supportive of the self employed and micro business owners and promote them on social media.

#Cashflow

  • Get 3 to 13 other micro biz owners together and set up a 13 x digital marketing session.
  • Recognise, on social media, those organisations that are fair payers of supplier bills. For example in England we know that Sage UK, Lloyds Bank, Leeds City Council. VINCI and Morgan Sindall Group all have fair terms and pay suppliers within 30 days.
  • Boycott – don’t shop at or buy goods or services from those that are not fair and prompt payers.   For example in England most major supermarkets terms, which we can’t afford to refuse, mean payment in 60, or even, 75 days. (av payment is 68 days & kills microbiz).
  • Complete our #MicroBizMattersDay Big Survey to find out what helps most with gaining #customers and improving #cashflow – the survey is at http://goo.gl/7DwFkR.
  • Tweet or post what Government should do in your country to ensure fair payment terms and prompt payment against them. For example in England we are tweeting: National, regional & local Government must only contract with those that pay suppliers within 30 days & their staff a living wage.
  • Name and shame those with unfair terms and conditions and/or late payment.
  • Pay any outstanding bills you have to other ~microBiz on #MicroBizMattersDay
  • Large organisations can pledge on the day to pay all suppliers within 30 days or less (or whatever is fair in your country).
  • List in 13 minutes all the big companies that have unfair payment terms (i.e. 31 – 90 days) and pledge not to buy from them again and persuade 13 others not to buy from them too. List in 13 minutes all the Big Companies that are fair and supportive of the self employed and micro business owners and promote them on social media.

  • Promote the Enterprise Rockers 4 Global Campaigns video to help micro business owners  throughout the world (it’s on the home page of this site).
  • Use the #Indie25ER hashtag to promote buying at least 25% of your weekly spend from independent businesses.
  • Use the #PayInThirtyDays hashtag to encourage Governments and those nice, friendly corporates that do #PayInThirtyDays to put pressure on the rest to do likewise.
  • Use the #NotAnSME hashtag. Many Govts & Large organisations say they are supporting “SMEs” to pretend they are supporting ‘small businesses’. In fact many in the media change a headline such as ‘More Support for SMEs’ to, such as, ‘Good news for small businesses’ SMEs are usually companies from 10 – 250 employees but including micros 99.9% of all businesses are “SMEs” so it is not a helpful term – just spin. What the public think of as “small business’ are micro businesses (0-9 employees) – 95% of all businesses – which we are celebrating on #MicroBizMattersDay.
